Brno today is more than just a city of students, scientists and technological innovators. It is also home to over 65,000 foreign nationals, a vibrant community that significantly shapes the city’s identity and social life.
All it takes is a walk through the city center — listening to the mix of languages around you or browsing the city’s rich cultural calendar. Brno is alive not only with Czech culture but also with Greek, Ukrainian, Venezuelan, Armenian, Indian, Argentinian and many other cultural influences.
This spirit of openness has been part of Brno’s identity for centuries — after all, the city has served as an important trading crossroads since the Middle Ages. Today, this legacy lives on through community festivals, concerts and culinary events that create opportunities for connection, discovery and mutual inspiration.
A Weekend Dedicated to Three World Cultures
Next Saturday, May 24, you will have the chance to experience this diversity for yourself — and even for your taste buds. Brno will come alive with three major events, taking you on a journey to three different parts of the world, all without leaving the city.
🇦🇷 Argentinian Afternoon at Brusinka
For one afternoon, Brno’s Žabovřesky district will transform into Buenos Aires. Get ready for an experience full of tango, live music and authentic flavors of South America. Both local and international performers will take the stage and visitors can enjoy traditional Argentinian cuisine.📍 Konečného náměstí 2a, Saturday, May 24, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
🇬🇷 Greek Saturday at Veveří Castle
Spend the entire day surrounded by Greek music, dance, cuisine and history. The program will feature concerts, an exhibition about the Greek community in Moravia and a selection of Mediterranean specialties. All of this set in the unique atmosphere of the historic Veveří Castle.📍 Veveří Castle, Saturday, May 24, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
🇮🇳 Indian Ratha-yatra Festival
Join a colorful procession featuring traditional music, dance, vegetarian specialties and the spiritual essence of India. The Ratha-yatra festival, a celebration of joy and life, will parade through the city center from Moravské náměstí to Dominikánské náměstí.📍 Starts at Moravské náměstí, Saturday, May 24, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The Cultural Weekend Continues on Sunday
But the weekend’s cultural program doesn’t end there. On Sunday, May 25, we invite all Russian-speaking residents of Brno to join a special guided tour of “The Churches of Brno”, led by licensed guide Anna Denisyuk.📍 Meeting point: Moravské náměstí 6, Sunday, May 25, at 11:00 AM
During the tour, you will learn about the history of Brno’s major monasteries and sacred sites, visit a former German church and a Jewish synagogue, and explore the gardens of a functioning monastery. For those interested, the tour also includes the option to climb the tower of the Brno Diocese Cathedral for panoramic views of the city.

Long-Term Commitment to Brno’s Diversity
Brno’s cultural diversity is not limited to just one weekend — it thrives all year round. Since the official founding of the Brusinka Multicultural Center in 2020 and with the support of the Brno-střed City District, we have been able to organize dozens of events that have connected local residents with cultures from all over the world.
These have included festivals celebrating Armenian, Kazakh and Ukrainian cultures, culinary workshops featuring Moroccan, Uzbek and Venezuelan cuisine and language and cultural evenings promoting the Czech language and intercultural communication.
All of these events have one thing in common — they awaken curiosity and interest in the world around us. They remind us that discovering other cultures is not just about enriching our experiences but also about deepening our understanding of ourselves. Those who open themselves to different languages, traditions and ways of life often come to better understand their own language, values and identity.
Be Part of It
Brno continues to be a living space for intercultural encounters, where you can explore, taste, listen and co-create new stories — no matter where you come from. Do not miss this opportunity to become part of something bigger. Every culture we discover offers us a new perspective on the world and on ourselves.
This is our Czech Republic – one home for diverse worlds.
