How speech, music and art help children thrive at Brusinka Multicultural Center
At Brusinka Multicultural Center several languages often flow together in a single moment — a question in Arabic, an answer in Czech, a giggle in English, a cheerful song in Spanish. Our community brings together families from more than 108 countries, each carrying its own languages, traditions and stories. This diversity is the heartbeat of Brusinka, shaping the way we teach, the way we listen and the way we celebrate every small step a child takes.
Many of our families are raising children in more than one language. We see this not as a challenge to overcome but as a treasure to nurture. Our little treasures are toddlers exploring their first words, preschoolers playing with the sounds of letters and young schoolchildren learning to make their voices heard in more than one tongue. In our classrooms, confidence grows alongside language skills, and children discover that every voice matters.
Research into multilingual development echoes what we witness every day: learning several languages at once strengthens a child’s flexibility of thought, problem-solving skills and self-assurance. A strong base in one language also supports the growth of others. That’s why we never say “one language first” — we grow them together, keeping the emotional warmth of the home language while building new ones.

At Brusinka speech is never developed in isolation. It is part of a living circle: speech connects with music, music inspires movement, movement develops fine motor skills and those skills feed back into clearer, more confident speech. Singing strengthens breathing and rhythm for better pronunciation. Art and craft train the small muscles in hands and face that are essential for articulation. You might see children shaping clay animals while practising new words, or tapping the beat of a song while tracing letters on paper.
The changes we see are as varied as our families. A five-year-old who once spoke only in short English phrases began joining Czech songs in music class — and within months those songs led to full sentences in both languages. A preschooler passionate about drawing mastered tricky consonants through art combined with playful speech games. A quiet child, silent in her second language, started using gestures in drama sessions, then words, and eventually performed short role-plays with classmates.
Working with children like this means responding to every spark — a glance that seeks encouragement, a smile that says “I understand,” a whispered word ready to grow louder. We listen as much as we speak, creating an environment where confidence blooms step by step. And when that confidence appears, our little treasures show their talent and joy in ways that are as unique as their stories.
In our classrooms filled with voices from over 108 countries, each child finds a piece of home and discovers something new.
We warmly invite you to visit Brusinka for a trial session. Here every language is welcome, every culture is celebrated and every little treasure has the chance to shine — in words, in music and in the joy of being understood.
