Mental Health Weeks 2026 at Brusinka: Making Space for Wellbeing, Connection and Conversation
Updated: 3 hours ago
From 10 September to 10 October 2026, Multicultural Center Brusinka is joining Mental Health Weeks with a month-long programme of workshops, talks and community gatherings in Brno and online.

Mental health often enters the conversation only when something has already become difficult. Yet it is present much earlier – in the way we respond to uncertainty, manage stress, build relationships, cope with change, experience loneliness, balance work and family life, or simply try to understand what is happening inside us.
Our programme is built around a simple idea: caring for our mental wellbeing should be part of everyday life, not something we turn to only in moments of crisis.
Sometimes it can begin with a conversation. A creative exercise. A new perspective. Time spent with other people. Or simply a place where there is no pressure to perform, explain or have everything figured out.
Bringing mental health into everyday life
Mental Health Weeks – Týdny pro duševní zdraví – has grown over 35 years into the largest multidisciplinary mental health awareness campaign of its kind in the Czech Republic.
It was founded by the non-profit organisation Fokus in Prague (originally Sdružení Fokus), with organisations from across the country gradually joining the initiative. Since 2018, Fokus ČR and the National Institute of Mental Health have worked together to further develop and promote the campaign and its values.
Fokus ČR brings together 11 non-profit organisations supporting people with mental illness across the Czech Republic, while the National Institute of Mental Health is one of the country’s leading scientific and clinical centres for research into mental health, mental illness and neuroscience.
The aim of Mental Health Weeks is to bring mental health closer to the public – including the lived experience of people with mental illness, possibilities for prevention and the work of organisations active in the social and healthcare fields.
Mental health and mental illness are still surrounded by stigma, misconceptions and silence. Open conversation matters, as do cultural, educational and community events that make these topics more visible, understandable and easier to approach.
Every year, organisations across the Czech Republic take part with a diverse programme of concerts, exhibitions, performances, workshops, open days, round tables, talks and discussion forums. Events take place both in person and online, creating different ways for people to engage with mental health topics in an open and approachable setting. For us at Brusinka, this connects naturally with the work we already do.
As a multicultural community centre, we meet people of different ages, languages, cultures and life situations every day. Their experiences may be very different, but many share similar needs: connection, understanding, stability, meaningful contact with others and a place where they can simply be themselves.
This is why wellbeing has become an increasingly important part of our work.
You do not need to be in crisis to take care of yourself
Support for mental wellbeing is sometimes associated only with serious difficulties or a diagnosis. We would like to broaden that perspective.
You do not need to arrive with a specific problem. You do not need to know exactly what you are looking for. You may want to understand yourself better, learn how uncertainty affects us, explore mindfulness, look at the stories we tell ourselves or experience a different kind of conversation with other people. Or perhaps you simply want to step away from the usual pace of everyday life for an hour or two.
All of these are good reasons to come.
Different paths to wellbeing
There is no single way to support mental wellbeing, and the programme reflects that.
Some events offer psychological insight into themes such as anxiety and uncertainty. Others use creativity to explore thoughts and emotions. Some focus on mindfulness, sharing or inner stability, while others create opportunities for informal conversation and connection.
Sessions are offered in Czech, English, Slovak and Russian, both in person and online. Mental Health Weeks 2026 at Brusinka Book your spot here.
