On the evening of November 28, 2024, the Concert Hall of Brno-střed came alive with music, friendship, and the spirit of cultural connection. The Multicultural Center Brusinka, in collaboration with the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), organized a concert dedicated to the Day of the Mediterranean – a celebration of diversity and unity across the Mediterranean region. The event was kindly supported by the Brno-střed Municipality.

The atmosphere was truly exceptional. Throughout the evening, 13 performers took the stage, representing different regions of the world – from Uganda to Ukraine. Among them were amateur musicians, students, teachers, and friends of the center who shared their passion for music and the cultural heritage of their homelands.

The audience was treated to popular, jazz, and folk songs, as well as authentic ethnic melodies that brought to life the colors, rhythms, and fragrances of both the Mediterranean and Africa. The reactions were spontaneous – applause, smiles, and even dancing filled the hall.

But the concert was not only about music. It was a dialogue between cultures, a space for people who might have found themselves in the same rhythm for the very first time. Music became a language of understanding that transcended borders and differences.

"Our goal was not just to organize a concert, but to create a bridge between people," says the center’s director, Viktoria Netíková. "Each performer brought a piece of their story, and together we created something that goes beyond individual cultures – a sense of unity."

Sharing Experience with the European ALF Network

The success of the Brno concert did not go unnoticed. In September 2025, Viktoria Netíková was invited to lead an online workshop for members of the Czech Anna Lindh Foundation Network, where she shared her experience with the project – from the first idea and grant application to the final implementation.

Participants appreciated the practical insights, openness, and inspiration on how to connect local cultural initiatives with the key values of the Anna Lindh Foundation: intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and respect for diversity.
